Launching a new app: Online research for an innovative Start-up

This market research project was born from the need of an innovative start-up to verify the interest towards a new app concept to launch on the Italian market .

Compared to other projects described on the website, to protect the idea during the launch and development phase, product details have been completely omitted.

The app development team contacted us to understand the interest in Italy towards the new concept developed. Designing, launching and developing a B2C app requires significant investments, especially if it is a broad application.

In particular, the data collected served both to understand whether to proceed with the launch project and to have concrete and reliable numbers to include in the business plan for raising the funds necessary for the launch.

research process


The research method proposed to obtain statistically significant information with respect to the total Italian population, but with an acceptable research cost, was online research.

The research phases in these cases are as follows:

  • debrief the app concept and draft a clear concept to test for research participants

  • Drafting the questionnaire

  • digitalization and technical check

  • sample size calculation

  • sending to a panel of targeted people via email

  • data collection and creation of research tables

  • drafting of the final report with the requested insights

result


The fieldwork for collecting responses lasted less than a week in total and collected very clear and useful data for understanding the interest of potential users, as well as indications on the propensity to use , on pricing and on the demographics of early adopters.
